Are you having alot of spam comments on your blog? do you see alot of viagra sites showing up in comments? If your answer is yes then i suggest you read on for the right solution to fight this.
Seocialise is a Do-Follow blog, and i face a lot of spam because of this. After alot of googling i came accros The Bannage Wordpress plugin. i find it a great succes. now i can ban IP adresses emails and links, and that all from Wordpress Dashboard.
Now ive build up a list of IP adresses that are spammers marked by me.
You can use this list to give you a head start in a fight against spam!

Thanks for the list - I’ve already got many of them blocked via my control panel but it does seem to be a bit of a losing battle for us all. Chins up - block the b’tards!

I don’t think banning IP is such a good idea. I get a different IP almost every 2-3 days, I would be unhappy if I get a spammer’s IP. I would rather put bad keyword filter as well as domain filter rather than IP filter.
You have also put a complete range of IP there, I don’t know which country / region it belongs to.. but I think that’s a rather harsh step.

yes, banning keywords would be great new feature to this plugin.
also regarding the ip adress range, its a region in russia i think. (so it seems to the languge of the comments)

I don’t need any other plug-in to prevent spam in my blogs, akismet is doing all I need. But maybe this is a good solution if your blog is really attacked be spammers.

I concur with Jeet, banning IP is not a good idea. I have written a post sometime back about how to prevent comment spam? without actually banning the IP but filtering your spams after Akismet has done its job.
